It was an exciting ISL final last season with the Atletico de Kolkata and Kerala Blasters battling out hard for the title. Normal time and extra time ended on a goal apiece before it went into a penalty shoot-out that the Kolkata side won to capture their second title.

Before this, they had won the title in the first season of the tournament.

Earlier, Atletico de Kolkata had overcome the Mumbai City FC in the semi-final, winning 3-2 over two legs while Delhi Dynamos and Kerala Blasters were held to a 2-2 draw before the latter won the penalty shoot-out 3-0 to clinch the place in the final.

The league stage of the competition saw the Mumbai City FC top the ISL league table with 23 points from 14 games, having registered six wins. They lost their games to Pune, Kerala and Goa, the only three defeats to go with the loss in the semi-final leg one against Kolkata.

Kerala Blasters finished second with 22 points while Delhi Dynamos and Atletico de Kolkata completed the top four with 21 and 20 points respectively.

The Dynamos’ Marcelinho finished the competition with the highest number of goals, pegged at 10 while Iain Hume scored 7 for his Atletico de Kolkata. There were seven other footballers who scored five goals apiece, including India’s CK Vineeth, which was the best effort from an Indian. Kean Lewis, another Indian footballer ended at four goals.

There were three hat-tricks in the competition as well, coming off the boots of Diego Forlan, Dudu Omagbemi and Marcelinho.

Amrinder Singh kept five clean sheets, which was the most by any goal-keeper while Karanjit Singh, Subrata Paul and Sandip Nandy all had four.
